To insert the current date in Word:
- Open Microsoft Word.
- Place the insertion pointer at where you want to insert the date.
- Click the Insert Tab.
- In the Text group, click on Date and Time.
The Date and Time dialog will appear. See screenshot below:
- On the left side of the dialog, select the date format you like.
- If you want the date to update automatically each time you open the document, check Update automatically. If this box is checked, each time you open the document, the Date will automatically change to the current date according to your system’s date.
- Click the OK button.

- Select the time format you like from the left side of the dialog box.
