What are Super Bowl Squares, and how does it work?
Super Bowl Squares is an exciting betting game played on a 10X10 grid. One hundred people typically play it, as it uses 100 squares. However, the count of 100 participants is not mandatory. You can easily modify the grid if you have fewer players.
The game is meant to bring unpredictability and excitement to the players
Let us quickly understand how it is played.
STEP #1 – Create the Grid
You need to start by creating a 10X10 square grid, as shown below.
In an NFL tournament, two teams are playing against each other. The score for one team is usually shown in a column (X-axis) at the top, and the score for the other team is shown in a row (Y-axis) on the left side.
For our easy understanding, we will term Team A on the X-axis and Team B on the Y-axis. Both the axes are assigned with random numbers from 0 to 9, as shown in the image above.
STEP #2 – Assign Squares
Once the grid is set, players can choose and buy squares of their choice from the grid at a set price. The price per square can be predetermined by the organizer or based on the total money collected for prizes.
The total money is usually distributed as prizes at the end of each quarter, with the bigger prize for the final score.
STEP #3 – Randomize Score Assignment
When all the squares get sold and squares are assigned, the numbers 0 to 9 are assigned along the X and Y axes (Team A and Team B) randomly.
By doing this, a unique combination of squares is achieved.
STEP #4 – Match with Game Scores
At the end of each quarter, the last digits of both the teams’ scores are matched with the numbers on the X and Y axes. For example, Refer to the following image for the scores of Team A and Team B.
Team A scored a number that ended with 3. Team B scored a single-digit number, so we’ll use that number, which is 8. Now, we need to find a square where the number 3 is in the column, and the number 8 is in the row to see the winning square.
In simple words, the person who owns a square where the numbers on the row and column match the last digit of each team’s score will win.
STEP #5 – Prize Distribution
At the end of each quarter, prizes are awarded, with a larger prize amount for the final round.
Make sure to decide the prizes before the game starts.
