Using the “u with accent alt code”, you can type any u character with an accent mark over it using the keyboard (Lowercase: ù,ú,û,ü or Uppwercase: Ù,Ú,Û,Ü).
Alt codes are designed for typing symbols that do not have a dedicated key on the keyboard. You can type these symbols or characters by pressing and holding the Alt key whilst typing the symbol’s alt code using the numeric keypad.

The table below shows all the alt codes for each of the “u” letters with the accent marks – In lowercases and uppercases (small and capital u with accents).

Obey the instructions below to type the “u” letter with an accent mark over it on any Windows keyboard using the alt codes in the above table. Let’s illustrate by using the capital U with umlaut accent alt code (0220). The “u” umlaut character is also known as u with two dots.
- Step 1: Place your insertion pointer where you need to type the u with accent symbol.
- Step 2: Press and hold one of the Alt keys on your keyboard.
- Step 3: Whilst still holding on to the Alt key, using the numeric keypad, type the u umlaut alt code (0252 for lowercase ü and 0220 for uppercase Ü). You can refer to the above table for all the various u with accent alt codes.
- Step 4: Release the Alt key after typing the Alt code to immediately insert the symbol.

Note that you must use the numeric keypad when typing the alt code. You must also turn on your NumLock key to be able to use the numeric keypad. If you are using a Laptop that does not have the numeric keypad, you can press Fn+NmLk keys simultaneously to turn on the hidden numeric keypad for laptops with smaller keyboards.
